Michelle’s Clothing Designer Will Not Design For Melania
A fashion designer that has been dressing Michelle Obama made a statement that might have devastating effects on her career. Sophie Theallet has reportedly said she will never design for the incoming first lady, Melania Trump.
Theallet’s statement is hilariously hypocritical as she states, “I am well aware it is not wise to get involved in politics,” Then why did you get involved, Sophie?
According to The Hill, Theallet said, “As one who celebrates and strives for diversity, individual freedom and respect for all lifestyles, I will not participate in dressing or associating in any way with the next first lady,”
“The rhetoric of racism, sexism and xenophobia unleashed by her husband’s presidential campaign are incompatible with the shared values we live by,” she continued. “I encourage my fellow designers to do the same.”
In consequence for her statement against Melania and her husband, many big-name designers have come out expressing their disapproval of her statement.
“It would be hypocritical to say no to dressing a Trump,” Rag and Bone designer Marcus Wainwright said. “If we say we are about inclusivity and making American manufacturing great again, then we have to put that before personal political beliefs.”
A well know design, Bradley Scott shared a similar opinion, First lady is first lady. It’s a position that should be exalted not disrespected,” said in an interview with Fox News. “I can’t believe anyone would basically spit at the opportunity. It’s so un-American.”
Of course Melania is laughing at Theallet’s refusal. Firstly, Melania never asked, and secondly, Melania already has plenty of designers dressing her.
