Trump Offers To Help Child Sentenced To Die In UK
On Monday, President Trump tweeted that he would be “delighted” to help an infant from the UK that has been atrociously sentenced to die by the courts.
Due to a mitochondrial disease, Charlie Gard is suffering and his parents want to bring him to the Untied States for a trial therapy that could help the child greatly. Although this seems like a no-brainer choice, European courts that claim to be for “human rights” have declined the parents’ request to move their child. The doctors on baby Charlie’s case don’t believe there is much of a chance that the treatments will heal him, so they think it’s better to sentence him to death.
These sick doctors don’t think it’s worth it to try the experimental treatments. They and the courts believe that it is better to simply let the child die without trying anything. Currently, the hospitals where baby Charlie is receiving treatment hold the right to end life-sustaining treatments– against his parents’ wishes.
On Sunday, the Vatican released a statement that the Pope is following Gard’s case, “For this he prays that their wish to accompany and treat their child until the end isn’t neglected.”
What kind of horrible times are we living in that a court would have more control over your children and their health than you do? President Trump is right to voice his support of the Gard family and will help them through this time.
